Weird Phone Calls

Being on call 24 hrs / 7 days a week / 365 days means that my army phone line is virtually switched on most of the time.  However, there lies the hazard of odd hour phone calls.

Normally phone calls at 0300hrs in the morning are not good. However, sometimes its just that the caller have a horrible sense of timing…

Take for instance one call at 3.30am… no one is fully awake at that time. Normally, in the dark at the hour, you’ll turn into a stone, just  staring out and listening to some music.  So when the phone rang,  it was with slurred movement I picked up the call…

Caller: Hello. I need to report an incident at our site
Me: OK. Go ahead.
Caller: *details of incident*.. happened at 10pm yesterday.
Me: *Looks at time* 10pm? That’s 5 hrs ago! Why didn’t you call then?
Caller: Errmm.. No idea…
Me: !!!

My only guess is that he thought it was better to wake everyone up in the middle of the night to ensure “full” attention to the matter… I can at least say that he suceeded in getting my attention…
