Fusedthought

Though in the digital era where almost everything has moved online, including traditional items like to-do lists, I still find it hard to forgo the good ‘ol pen and paper. Especially for me, I like to doodle my thoughts and designs on paper before actually sitting in front of the computer to lay down the mock-ups in GIMP or Photoshop.

In a recent article on Stepcase Lifehack, 9 Places to Always Keep Pen and Paper Handy were suggested:

  1. The Bathroom
  2. The Car
  3. The Shower
  4. By the Bed
  5. By the phone
  6. By the TV
  7. In the kitchen
  8. In your carry on
  9. By the front door.

Out of the 9, I do pen paper “by the phone” and “by the front door”..  Moreover, since my bedroom is my study room, there plenty of paper in there…

However, the one thing I always forget to do is to put it in my bag when I go out. I find myself often left without anywhere to write when some inspiration or thought strikes while strolling through the streets. My current solution is to key the information into my handphone, but it is hardly an apt tool for “thoughts-taking” (as opposed to “note-taking”) due to its limited ability to draw.

Another good place I feel is to have some pen and writing paper in the washroom as well. When you’re sitting there quietly answering to nature calls, inspiration for something, like a mid-term paper, may call onto you.. (Remember to wash your hands though!)

In fact, thinking back, 85% of my ideas come when I am either in the washroom, on the streets doing some aimless strolling or when I am about to sleep.  Although I am not too thrilled about the last point as it is always the cause of another sleepless night as I get too excited by some new idea.

Well, I guess after that article I have a few more places to consider…
