Gmail Upgrades (Again): Multiple Inboxes
February 6, 2009Just 2 days ago, I mentioned about new Gmail label management features. Now, another feature has come to Google’s mail service: Multiple Inboxes.
This new labs feature was announced on the Official Gmail Blog early this morning (my local time) and should be included in most inboxes by now. Frankly, the launch was relatively silent and I didn’t notice the feature until I saw the announcement on the login page.
From the description on the blog, it seems that there is huge potential for this labs feature especially if it can be adapted into a “Getting Things Done” work-flow.
(EDIT: As mentioned on Lifehacker, an idea would be listing your “To Do” labels or “Follow-up” Labels in the front page.)
Sadly, I couldn’t try out the new feature as every time I turned this labs feature on, my Gmail seems to load too slowly. Probably, this is due to the network proxy of my camp which is restricting access. In fact, I am blogging from a third-party site as I can’t enter my own website administration and blog via the normal means.
Since I can’t take a screenshot of my own, I took this one off the Official Gmail Blog:

To turn on this feature, head over to the Labs Tab under settings. After which, there will be a “Multiple Inboxes” section under settings where you can customize your preferences.
Since I haven’t tried it, that’s all I can say for now. Hopefully I can try this out when I get home.
