I don’t usually watch the parliament proceedings. However, the National Youth Assembly at the start of this month must have an effect on me… Furthermore, it also helps that the motion being brought to the attention of the house is something interesting to listen to.

NMP Viswa Sadasivan first speech in parliament saw quite a number of MPs speak up against or for it. What made it even more interesting was MM Lee’s intervention (a 1st since 2007), arising from the need to “bring the house back to earth”.

I shan’t go into much detail, but I must admit, what caused me to raise my eyebrows was not the point of rebuttals but the use of the word “highfalutin”.

Too bad we don’t get the full parliamentary session broadcasted on television… I would definitely want to watch this session again just to see the atmostphere being played out at the moment.
